In the face of ever-changing and more powerful information and communications technologies, companies must evolve their strategy and structure simultaneously. As companies migrate to new and more efficient organizational forms such as value networks, they must coordinate their technology strategies with their partners. They must learn to manage distributed and inter-organizational workgroups while fostering innovation. The ability to manage IT resources in order to enable business strategy is an enduring challenge for most companies. Doing it well requires expertise in price setting, establishing and managing sourcing arrangements, evaluating the advantages of alignment or flexibility and knowing how to extract business value from your IT investments.
