ABOUT JAIMS

Established in 1972 by Fujitsu Limited, the JAIMS program provides an intensive postgraduate certificate program with a major focus on U.S. business principles and methods within a global context.  Participants learn about business strategy; marketing; accounting and finance; negotiation; computer and information technology applications; regional and global business practices.

CRITO has hosted the JAIMS group for over 10 years.  The group comes to America to study information technology and management. Faculty associates from CRITO and other universities provide classroom lectures to groups of 15-20 mid to upper level Japanese managers on topics such as IT and Business in the Internet Age, Supply Chain Management, Collaborative Technologies, and Competing in the Digital Economy.

Local companies also participate in this program by hosting the JAIMS students for a site tour and talk at their facilities.  The firms generously donate their time and hospitality to introduce the students to their organizations and provide them with real examples of the business models and concepts they have been studying at CRITO.

Some of the companies that have hosted the JAIMS group in the past are:

JAIMS SCHEDULE

CRITO hosted the most recent JAIMS gathering on September 10-11, 2003. We visited Viacore and Mindspeed.

BECOME A JAIMS HOST

We welcome companies interested in participating in intercultural exchange through hosting the JAIMS group.  Host companies typically accommodate the JAIMS students at their facility for a presentation and a site tour (if appropriate) for approximately 2 hours. The companies prepare a short presentation of no more than 60 minutes providing an overview of their organization and business model.  During the presentation, group leaders from JAIMS conduct sequential interpretation in Japanese and facilitate questions and answers between the students and the speaker.

Many companies find the experience of participating in the JAIMS program to be an interesting and rewarding way to work with UCI and CRITO while interacting with and learning about the perspective of Japanese managers.

To become a host company, please contact (949) 824-1323 for more information.
