Advisory Board Announcement

A new aspect of CRITO’s governance structure moving forward is the CRITO External Advisory Board, whose mission is to help us further develop the Center, and in particular, set our strategic direction. This board is comprised of a distinguished set of experts from the academic, public and private sectors. The Board members represent the supply side (CEOs of IT services firms), demand side (CIOs), investors (private equity and venture capital) and researchers (academics and industry).

Board members include: Fran Berman, San Diego Supercomputer Center, Director; Allen Fazio, Disneyland Resort, Vice President and Chief Information Officer; John Gantz, International Data Corporation, Senior Vice President and Chief Research Officer; Ramesh Jain, UC Irvine, Bren Professor of Information & Computer Science; Jim Madden, Accretive LLC, General Partner; Morteza Mahjour, RBC, Chief Information & Operations Officer; Jeff Margolis, TriZetto, Chairman and CEO; Mary Jo Morris, Computer Sciences Corporation, President, World Sourcing Services; Phaneesh Murthy, iGate Corporation, CEO; Vijay Parikh, Global Catalyst Partners, Managing Principal, US & Europe; Shankar Rao, OptumHealth Specialty Benefits (United HealthCare), Chief Information Officer; Karen Salem, Global CIO; and Ken Venner (Chair), Broadcom, Chief Information Officer.

The first Advisory Board meeting took place in September. We created a charter, reviewed the business models of other centers, discussed CRITO’s historical and current research foci, developed a set of performance metrics and identified research themes.

Based on their areas of interest, members of the Advisory Board have been participating in small group meetings with CRITO researchers, fostering discussions, and helping to identify actionable research studies. The academics are now working on research proposals based on the discussion and feedback. At the next Advisory Board meeting, CRITO researchers will discuss their proposals and the Advisory Board groups will report on the results of their meetings.

CRITO will continue to develop an innovative and consequential research agenda. With the involvement of this distinguished board, we aspire to articulate and execute a powerful vision and strategy that will ensure CRITO's ongoing success.
