Mark S. Ackerman is Associate Professor at the University
of Michigan in the School of Information and in the Department of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science. He conducts research in Computer Supported
Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Human-Computer Interaction. The theoretical
focus of his research group's work is on the interplay of the social
world with computational systems. He is particularly interested in technical-social
co-design, and his research group currently has projects in information
access and change, privacy, and organizational memory. Dr. Ackerman
has previously held positions at the University of California, Irvine
in the Computing, Organizations, Policy, and Society (CORPS) group and
at MIT. Dr. Ackerman holds a Ph.D. from MIT.
